Approved Funded Training

The correct funding program names are Career Start and Career Boost. Fees below are the published student co-contribution fees for each listed pathway.

Career StartApprenticeship and Traineeship

ICT30120 Certificate III in Information Technology Traineeship

Delivered at the trainee workplace, virtually, or by a combination of workplace and virtual delivery.

Co-contribution fee

$1.60 per nominal hour

A standard nominal-hours range would be 370 to 510 hours, with an indicative co-contribution fee range of $592 to $816. This fee is usually paid by the employer. If not, it is the responsibility of the trainee.

Career BoostApprenticeship and Traineeship

ICT40120 Certificate IV in Information Technology Traineeship

Delivered at the trainee workplace, virtually, or by a combination of workplace and virtual delivery.

Co-contribution fee

$1.60 per nominal hour

A standard nominal-hours range would be 860 to 920 hours, with an indicative co-contribution fee range of $1,376 to $1,472. This fee is usually paid by the employer. If not, it is the responsibility of the trainee.

Career StartGeneral Training

ICT30120 Certificate III in Information Technology

Delivered at 160 Edward St, Brisbane City QLD 4000, at the student workplace by arrangement, virtually, or by a combination of Brisbane location, workplace, and virtual delivery.

Co-contribution fee

Non-concession $200; concession $100

The published co-contribution fee is the total student contribution fee for this general training pathway.

Eligibility Criteria

Students must meet the relevant pathway requirements to access subsidised training.

Apprenticeship and Traineeship Pathway

  • Have entered into a training contract for a qualification funded by the Department of Trade, Employment and Training and be registered on the Department training database.
  • If from overseas, have a visa allowing them to work in Australia.
  • Not have already completed two apprenticeship or traineeship qualifications, including school-based apprenticeships or traineeships, within the last 10 years.

General Training Pathway

  • Aged 15 years or older.
  • Not be a school student.
  • Permanently reside in Queensland.
  • Be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian entrant, eligible temporary resident on the pathway to permanent residency, or New Zealand citizen.
  • Not already have a certificate III or higher qualification completed within the last 10 years. Qualifications completed as a school student and foundation skills qualifications do not count.
  • Not be enrolled in another qualification, even if it is on hold or deferred, whether funded by the Department or not. Foundation skills qualifications do not count.

Traineeship delivery may occur at the trainee workplace, virtually, or through a combination of workplace and virtual delivery.

General training may be delivered at the Brisbane training centre, at the student workplace by arrangement, virtually, or by a combination of approved delivery modes.
